Unifly Demonstrates UTM Technology for Multi-Drone Operations in Indonesia: Pioneering Safer, Scalable Drone Solutions in Southeast Asia

Antwerp, January 23, 2025 – Unifly, a leader in UAS Traffic Management (UTM) solutions, part of Terra Drone Corporation (“Terra Drone”), announced its involvement in Indonesia’s first demonstration of multi-drone operations using a cutting-edge UTM platform. The event, held in the suburbs of Jakarta, marks a significant milestone in advancing safe and scalable drone operations in Southeast Asia. This initiative is part of the “Industrial Cooperation Programme in the Global South through Technology Transfer,” supported by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), which has adopted Terra Drone.

Indonesia is emerging as one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic markets for drone applications, with significant opportunities in sectors like infrastructure inspection, large-scale agriculture, and inter-island logistics. As a nation rich in oil and gas resources and expansive palm plantations, Indonesia faces an urgent need for robust aerial management systems to ensure safe and efficient drone operations.

Unifly, in collaboration with Terra Drone Indonesia, demonstrated how its UTM platform can revolutionise airspace management in Indonesia. With over a decade of experience in implementing national-level UTM systems, Unifly showcased the potential for drones to enhance critical industries and unlock new opportunities.

The demonstration showcased the real-time capabilities of Unifly’s UTM platform, managing multiple drones equipped with ADS-B and Remote ID under diverse scenarios:

  • Agriculture: Precision drone spraying for large-scale farming, including palm plantations.
  • Logistics: Exploring drone delivery solutions for inter-island and remote logistics.
  • Security & Monitoring: Drone surveillance for infrastructure inspection and emergency response.

As Southeast Asia’s second-largest potential drone market and the world’s fourth-largest population, Indonesia presents a significant opportunity for adopting advanced UTM systems. The recent demonstration showcased how Unifly’s technology ensures coordinated, safe, and efficient drone operations while addressing critical challenges, such as airspace congestion and emergency response management.

This initiative positions Indonesia as a leader in building scalable drone ecosystems across the region, unlocking the full potential of drones for both commercial and governmental applications. The program aims to implement UTM systems for widespread drone usage in major cities like Jakarta and the upcoming capital, Nusantara, with applications spanning agriculture, surveying, logistics, and security.

Additionally, the initiative strengthens economic ties with Global South countries and aligns with Indonesia’s economic growth ambitions, highlighting the transformative role of drones in fostering innovation and development.

Indonesia’s commitment to innovation and progress in drone technology is truly inspiring. At Unifly, we’re proud to support the country in building a safe, efficient, and scalable drone ecosystem that will unlock immense potential for both local communities and the broader economy.
