Functionalities for supervisors

For supervisors, the platform provides a suite of services for authorisation, monitoring, and post-flight investigation, enabling effective airspace access management, real-time operational oversight, conformity checking, restriction enforcement, and detailed analyses after operations. Supervisors can set up no-fly zones, oversee operations and alerts, issue landing directives, and apply data analytics for insightful decision-making.

Authenticate

The “Authenticate” phase for Supervisors focuses on account management and user authentication, specifically designed for those responsible for managing airspaces.

Key functionalities include:

System Registration: This initial step ensures that all necessary information and documentation are systematically registered within the system for both user and supervisor accounts. Supervisor users, responsible for specific airspaces or Areas of Responsibility (AoRs), can link these AoRs to supervisor accounts, allowing multiple users to be assigned to specific areas, such as Air Traffic Control (ATC) for a Control Zone (CTR).

Compliance: The system also emphasizes compliance with data privacy policies, including GDPR and PIPEDA, for supervisor users, ensuring that all operations adhere to legal requirements regarding data protection and privacy.

Access Management: Offers secure login capabilities using Single Sign-On (SSO) methods, such as Active Directory, and is bolstered by advanced security features like multi-factor authentication (MFA), enhancing the protection of sensitive operational data.

Localisation: Provides customisation options for user settings, including localisation to tailor the user experience according to geographical and language preferences.

Through these functionalities, the “Authenticate” phase equips Supervisors with the necessary tools for secure account management and user authentication, facilitating effective and compliant management of airspace responsibilities.

Authorise

The “Authorise” phase in the Pre-Tactical stage is designed for supervisors managing airspace access authorizations within defined operational workflows.

Key features of this phase include:

Configurable Authorisation Workflow: Each Area of Responsibility (AoR) has a tailored authorisation process, which can be entirely manual, automated, or a mix of both. Supervisors use these predefined workflows to manage authorisation requests, ensuring each procedure aligns with the unique requirements of the supervised airspace.

Authorisation Management: Supervisors can review all details related to authorisation requests, including historical communication with operators. They also can download authorisation documents and other related submissions from operator users, supporting a comprehensive review and decision-making process.

Archiving Authorisation Requests: Supervisors can keep their oversight manageable and up-to-date by filtering and archiving authorisation requests. This helps maintain an efficient process by allowing supervisors to concentrate on current and relevant requests.

Through these features, the “Authorise” phase provides supervisors with a robust framework for managing authorisation requests, enhancing the efficiency and security of airspace access management.

Supervise

The “Supervise” phase during the Tactical stage is crucial for supervisor users, providing them with real-time oversight of the Area of Responsibility (AoR). Key functionalities of this phase include:

No-Fly Zone Management: Supervisor users can quickly establish Temporary No-Fly Zones in response to potential threats, which plays a significant role in maintaining the safety and security of the airspace.

Tracking: The integration with Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems is a cornerstone feature, offering a comprehensive tracking ability that supports multiple Asterix categories, among others, to ensure full situational awareness.

Operation Supervision: Supervisors are provided with tools to monitor various types of operations within their AoR, with a visual categorisation system that distinguishes security, priority, and regular flights.

Monitoring of Flights: Supervisor users are monitoring flights of both manned and unmanned aircraft in real-time.

Alerting: Supervisor users are provided alerts for any issues within their AoR, ranging from non-conformance to potential collisions, unauthorised operations, and emergencies, for prompt action.

Landing Instructions: When a flight poses a safety risk, supervisors can issue instructions for the operator user to land the drone. These instructions, along with acknowledgement of reception, are logged into a timeline, creating a transparent and accountable record of any actions taken.

This enables supervisor users to proficiently monitor and check compliance with all flight activities under their supervision in the Tactical phases.

Investigate

The “Investigate” phase in the post-flight stage equips supervisors with tools for detailed analysis and reporting after flight operations have concluded. Key aspects of this phase include:

Replay Functionality: Supervisors have access to replay tools that allow them to review the tracks and alerts of past flights. This is particularly useful for incident investigation and understanding the sequence of events.

Dashboard with Statistics: A dashboard offering analytics provides supervisors with key operational metrics such as the total number of operations/flights, the count of authorisation requests granted, and the cumulative distance flown. This data is filterable and can be exported for further analysis.

Analytics Interface: The platform can interface with Business Intelligence (BI) tools, enabling supervisors to delve deeper into analytics for more sophisticated data analysis and insights.

Through these features, the “Investigate” phase provides supervisors with a comprehensive post-flight evaluation toolset, facilitating thorough investigations and informed decision-making based on robust data analysis.

Support

The platform equips admin users with essential functionalities to support both operator and supervisor users effectively. Key internal operations features include:

User Management: Offers tools for creating new user profiles, adjusting multi-factor authentication (MFA) settings, resetting passwords, and updating user details, ensuring secure and current access.

Operator and Role Management: Enables comprehensive control over operator accounts, allowing admins to add or remove users as necessary.

Subscription Management: Administrators have the capability to allocate subscriptions to users.

Connectivity Status Page: Features a dedicated status page that reflects the real-time availability of platform services and integrations, keeping all users informed about operational status.

User Manual: Provides all users with access to an online manual, offering detailed guidance on platform usage, aiding in troubleshooting, and improving overall user experience.

These functionalities bolster the platform as a robust, user-centric system, streamlining management tasks and enhancing operational efficiency for admin users.
